J M Clayton Company was founded in 1890 by Capt. John M. Clayton and is still owned and continues to be operated by fourth and fifth generation descendants.  The primary business is buying and selling blue crab (callinectes sapidus) and picking blue crab on the Chesapeake Bay.  Our domestic crabmeat picked in Maryland goes under the "Epicure" label while our Indonesian brand of blue swimming crab (portunus pelagicus) goes under the "Clayton's" label.
